While this large size bromide does not have any text, we have identified Henry "Bozo" Wakabayashi (left) and Junshi Nakatani (right) as the two players flanking San Francisco Seals pitcher, Con Dempsey. Dempsey is better known for his appearance in the 1952 Topps set than for his major league career, which consisted of three poor outings with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was, however, quite successful in his five seasons with the San Francisco Seals. The fact that he stood 6' 4" made a good photo contrast with the two Japanese players. Wakabayashi, a native of Hawaii, was player/manager for the Osaka Tigers from 1936 to 1949. He won four league titles during his tenure at the helm. As a pitcher, he won 20 or more games in six seasons and had a microscopic lifetime ERA of 1.99. 1949 was his last full time season as a player. Nakatani was a slugging third baseman for the Hankyu Braves who was coming off his best season in 1949, batting .320 with 15 homers.
