In 1931, New York sportswriter Fred Lieb (man at bottom center holding bouquet) and former major leaguer, Herb Hunter (top row just to the right of the flag) organized the U.S. All Star Tour of Japan featuring Lou Gehrig and Lefty Grove.
This photo was taken during the team's arrival at Tokyo Station. Lefty Grove (center) and his wife (holding bouquet) are also in the photo. On the back, someone from the Tour party wrote a description of the event. During the Tour, the
Americans waltzed to a 16-0 record. A Sporting News, John Rogers Archive authentication sticker is affixed to the back.
