The postcard sized 1964 Morinaga cards have always been prized by collectors for their beautiful, pure card fronts. Cards for players appearing in both the JF 1 and JF 2 Morinaga sets are identical, except that the JF 1 cards are diecut on the back so that the card can be stood up. While the Shigeo Mizuhara JF 1 card is relatively common, the Mizuhara JF 2 card is one of the two scarce cards in the Morinaga Top Star set. Here, we present an example of the scarce JF 2 Morinaga issue. At this stage of his career, Mizuhara had left the Yomiuri Giants and was managing the Toei Flyers.
