On August 30, 1978 at Korakuen Stadium, Sadaharu Oh, the world's greatest slugger ever, homered for the 800th time in his Japan Pro Baseball career. The home run was hit off of Taiyo Whales pitcher Hiroshi Okawa in the 6th inning. This shikishi dates from the period 1978-1980 (the year of Oh's retirement). Oh signed his name, and also kyojingun (Giants team) at right, and 800 across the top. Not only is this signature style consistent with other Oh autographs of the late 1970s, but shikishi that Oh signed after 1980 with home run number notations generally had the number "868" inscribed, as that was his career total. This autographed shikishi (traditional Japanese signing board), autographed with a black marker, comes with a letter of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA).
