The JCM 24 Hoshi Gangu card is Sadaharu Oh's most popular rookie card, bar none. Oh needs no introduction to Japan baseball enthusiasts. His 868 lifetime homers, 2,170 RBI and 1,967 runs scored combined with a lifetime batting average of over .300 prove that he was one of the greatest players the world has ever seen. The regular issue JCM 24 cards have off-white borders. This is the scarcer, gold border variation, which is significantly more difficult to find than the regular version. Interestingly, the JCM 24 Oh card also depicts Oh's teammate and all time great, Shigeo Nagashima (HOF) in the background. This example, at first glance, seems as though it should receive a grade of 6 or 7 from a professional grading service. However, there is a minor registration problem that is most evident when viewing Nagashima's face. Also, on the reverse, there is a thin, vertical area of paper loss near bottom center. As a result, this card has received a grade of 2 from SGC.
