The Hawaii Red Sox were billed as a "non-professional" team who toured Japan in August and September 1951, playing 18 games against mostly Tokyo Big Six University opposition, winning 11 games while losing seven. This power
packed team of native Hawaiians included numerous players who would be playing Japan Pro Baseball within the next few years. Included in the Tour group were such future Japan Pro Baseball stalwarts as Bill Nishita, Stan Hashimoto,
Dick Kashiwaeda, Tomoharu Kai, Katsuji Kojima and Mitsuru Watanabe. While the Tokyo Big Six University League name and logo appear in several spots on the ticket, the opposition for this game is billed as a non-pro Japanese team.
There is no date printed on the front of the ticket. The number "4" on the ticket could refer to the fourth game of the Tour, played against the All Kyushu team, in which the Red Sox were defeated in 11 innings by a score of 4 to 3 on August
26th. The stamp on the back, which in part has the numbers "26.8" lends further credence to this theory. At any rate, this is a rare full ticket from a tour of great interest, especially to fans of Hawaiian baseball history.
