Not long ago, we checklisted for the first time the Yuasa & Company 1931 Tour of Japan Bromide set. Based on the very few cards known to the hobby at the time, we felt that the set was complete at 16 cards. Now, we have found three additional cards in the set. One of these features the immortal Iron Horse, Lou Gehrig. There are two other cards of Gehrig in the set, so we are quite surprised to find a third. At this point, no other examples of this card are known in the hobby. While earlier Tours of Japan had included a number of all stars and future Hall of Famers, this was the first Major League Tour of Japan which featured a true all star contingent. Gehrig played in only five of the 17 games, batting .313 with no homers. But when he returned with Babe Ruth for the 1934 Tour, he played in all 18 games, clubbing six round trippers. This card would be a great addition to any vintage Yankees or Gehrig collection. Blank backed.

Size: Approximately 3 3/8" x 5 3/8".

Condition: Dots of staining at upper right. Front and blank back damage from having been attached to an album with corner mounts. Corners and borders are Ex/Mt.
